FBI Pushing for More Internet Spy Power
The FBI is demanding that ISPs keep a log of every web site their customers visit and make the info. available to the Feds.
Most large ISPs (Internet Service Providers) have already been secretly logging all user activity and providing the data to the federal government. In addition, most all international and domestic Internet traffic is now routed through the NSA which maintains a record of the data but does not share it with just anyone.
Not all ISPs have been willing to break the law and violate their customers privacy nor are they willing to spend the extra money required to maintain extensive logs of user activity.
Using illegally obtained data in court can complicate a case so the Feds want to legally obtain the data so they can more easily use it against people.
For the last 10 years the FBI has mostly ignored criminals and focused most of its attention on identifying Americans who are resistant the creeping fascism infecting the US federal government. The FBI is not so much a law enforcement agency as a criminal organization engaged in the suppression of free speech and democracy. It should certainly not be allowed more access to the personal information of American citizens.
