Three days ago Physcist Dr. Stephen Hawking asked a question on Yahoo Answers. So far nearly 20,000 people have responded with varying degrees of intelligence and insight. Following is our short answer to his question. Stay tuned for the longer answer.
How can the human race survive the next hundred years?
In a world that is in chaos politically, socially and environmentally, how can the human race sustain another 100 years?
Homo Sapiens can and most likely will survive due to its technology and tenacity. However, it won’t survive at its present population level or without radical cultural change.
The Earth has exhibited a profound ability to recover from disaster. While it may take hundreds or even thousands of years to recover from the damage caused by humans, it will likely recover, but it won’t be the same. New species will emerge to replace those destroyed by the human plague.
There are ready solutions to every problem, yet, humans lack a sufficient capacity for rapid change. A mass depopulation due to wars, starvation, disease, environmental contamination, genetic contamination, and natural disasters is inevitable and just.
Our culture has peaked and we must now reap what we have sown.
The state of the world is not a technological issue but rather a cultural issue. Humans do stupid things because they are expected to by their peers and family and due to psychological dysfunction. Being too intelligent is to risk being a social outcast.
If humans don’t want to experience a mass depopulation they will have to create massive change on a personal, cultural, political and religious level.
The single most effective thing any person can do is to adopt the diet their bodies were intended for – one of grains, legumes, fruits, vegetables and nuts.
The greatest cause of planetary destruction is the human diet. There are currently more farm animals on the planet than humans and they eat more food than humans.
The primary cause of global warming is the needless human consumption of animals. Without the massive deforestation required for growing cattle and the grain to feed them, the Earth would be able to absorb much more Co2. Methane is 26 times more powerful a greenhouse gas then Carbon dioxide and most of it comes from cattle and sheep.
The second most important thing a person can do is to heal themselves emotionally and spiritually so that they will be less driven by dysfunction, can create changes within themselves, in their families and in their communities.
Who a person is today is a result of all past experience. Unresolved traumatic experiences produces dysfunction. Healing can be done by releasing past trauma through hypnotic regression, energy healing, counseling, meditation, etc.
It is also essential that thinking people disconnect from mass media and focus on visualizing a better world and not get sucked into the mass fear and despair driven by the daily body count.
Switch off the TV, radio, I-Pod and look within. Listen to the wisdom of your soul and the universe. They won’t let you down.
