For several months we have been hearing rumors about Mormons buying massive amounts of food.
Some stores report that individuals have been purchasing their entire stock of certain items. A Saskatchewan store sold their entire bread supply for a week to just one person. A mill in Colorado reports that local Mormons have been cleaning them out on organic flour and other items.
The rumors were recently confirmed by some Mormons who admitted that indeed they had been told to increase their food stockpiles beyond the previous one year requirement. They also mentioned problems with government accusing them of hoarding food.
However, another source says that no official LDS (Mormon) policy change has been issued.
While it is obvious that the price of food will only go up and there will be shortages, could it also be that the Mormons were given inside information from members in intelligence services?
Mormons have long been given preference for employment by the CIA and military intelligence agencies. Insiders claim that the only way to advance in the intelligence services is to be a Mason or Mormon. There are thousands of Mormons in the intelligence services and many of them are at high levels.
It is likely that the Mormon church leadership has been given information related to planned and probable future events that compelled it to increase the mandatory stockpile beyond one year, but, it doesn’t take insider information to get a good idea of what is going to happen in the near future.
Food prices are increasing rapidly because the human population has started to exceed the planet’s ability to feed it, as long as much of the world’s grain is fed to animals instead of people and increasing amounts of food are used to produce fuel.
If people just ate 10% less meat there would certainly be enough food to go around and prices wouldn’t rise so fast.
Until recently, Chinese have consumed meat only once in awhile, just like Europeans and Africans and South Americans did before they got rich enough to eat meat all the time. With an extra billion more meat eaters huge amounts of grain are diverted to animals instead of humans.
It takes 6-12 pounds of grain to create one pound of meat. This means that you can feed 6-12 people on grain or one person on meat.
Most of America’s corn crop goes to animals or ethanol. Most all of the soy beans grown in South America feed animals, not humans.
Meat is an unhealthy addiction for most people and few people are willing to give up their addiction for their health or even their bank account.
Because the meat industry is heavily subsidized in most countries, the price of meat is often cheaper than fruits and vegetables, which makes the problem even worse. At least if people had to pay the true cost of meat they might be encouraged to eat less of it which would make more food available to others.
Aside from the rapid increase in food prices due to shortages there is also another factor that may compel the Mormons to stockpile food – the likely collapse of the US dollar and resulting economic collapse.
At the present time most of the world’s oil is traded only in dollars which requires billions of dollars each day. So, countries who want to buy oil must first buy dollars and as the price of oil goes up so does the demand for dollars. The continued increase in the price of oil is one of the only things keeping the dollar from dropping further in value.
The weaker the dollar is the higher the price of oil is for everyone. The low value of the dollar and the high price of oil has been wreaking havoc on the world economy.
It was recently revealed by an OPEC official on Press.TV that OPEC is making preparations to stop trading oil in only dollars.
If countries no longer need to buy oil in dollars there will be a huge surplus of dollars and the value of the dollar will drop rapidly.
China and Japan hold over a trillion US dollars and they would try to sell at least some of it before the dollar becomes worthless. Trillions of dollars are also held in treasury notes by a wide range of investors. Once the dollar starts to drop it could drop fast and far as people try to cash out of the dollar before it drops any further.
Overnight, Americans could find that their money no longer has much value. Runaway inflation would mean that many Americans could no longer afford to eat, buy gas or pay for the basic items required to live. Because America imports most everything, the cost of everything would soar.
US food producers would want to export their crops to get hard currency instead of devalued dollars, so there would be severe food shortages in the US. Unlike other countries which are now limiting food exports, it is unlikely that the US government would do the same. It has no loyalty to its own people.
The risk to the dollar and US economy could be easily mitigated if the Federal Reserve would simply buy back some of its dollars on the world market. Buying up surplus dollars would quickly increase the value of the dollar and actually lower oil prices and stabilize the world economy. Yet, the Federal Reserve is instead pumping hundreds of billions of dollars into markets to further depress the value of the dollar.
Many of the dollars being ‘loaned’ to large investment firms are likely being converted into other currencies for later use in buying up US assets at pennies on the dollars.
The same type of predatory currency manipulation was done to Southeast Asia in 1997 which caused the near collapse of currencies in several countries. As the value of local currencies hit bottom investment bankers swooped in to buy up hotels, factories, office buildings, farms and other assets for a fraction of their actual value.
Since the Federal Reserve is a private bank ultimately controlled by the European ruling elite, it is likely that the same type of scenario will happen to the US but it will be much, much worse.
Southeast Asia had a huge cheap work force and plenty of export products to recover with. The US has an unproductive and aging work force with very little to export.
The US economy is based primarily on consumption of cheap goods and services. Once the goods and services are no longer cheap Americans won’t be able to consume them and the economy will come to a standstill. The early stages are already happening as Americans reduce their spending on non-essentials.
America’s recover from a currency collapse would take years, certainly longer than the one year of food supplies Mormons were previously required to maintain. In the meantime the US would be under martial law to control riots and looting.
Another possible scenario is that OPEC delays dumping the dollar and the US bombs Iran and Iran retaliates with an EMP (electro-magnetic pulse) weapon. Iran has the weapons and the means to detonate them over the US. If the US was targeted by EMP weapons it would be thrown back to the stone age for a very long time.
An EMP weapon emits a very strong magnetic field that wipes out computer memories and causes electrical transformers to explode. Since most everything in the US is run by computer and the transformers are no longer made in the US there would be no power, no water, no wastewater treatment, little transportation, no food or much of anything else for a long time. No one could buy gas, planes couldn’t fly. You couldn’t take money out of the bank.
Most of the fist-shaking by the US toward Iran is merely drama to help keep the price of oil jacked up and divert attention away from its war crimes and genocide in Iraq. However, the people who run the White House are insane and stupid and evil enough to bomb Iran. If they do, it will mean the end of the US as we know it.
We don’t advocate hoarding food, but it might be a wise thing to stock up on basics a bit while you can. The price of food is likely to only go up and the supply go down.
You might want to avoid foods which are known to be contaminated by genetic engineering and unsafe to eat. At present it is unsafe to buy most rice from the US or China. Indian basmati rice is regularly tested for GE contamination and is currently considered safe. Wheat is generally safe but not for more than another year or two. Soy and corn are to be avoided. Beans and lentils are safe and keep for a long time. Always buy organic when you can.
It is always a good idea to become friends with local organic farmers and gardners and to grow as much of your own food as possible.
