Slavery is illegal in the United States and in virtually every other country on the planet, yet Wal-Mart has acted as though its employees are slaves and can be forced to work for free, and for decades they got away with it.
Complaints by workers to state and federal labor authorities were ignored for the most part and it took class-action law-suits and many years for workers to see any measure of justice.
By settling the 63 cases now Wal-Mart will avoid potentially massive punitive damages. A few other cases still remain active.
The settlement of the cases comes after Wal-Mart recently settled a $54.25 million case for not paying its Minnesota workers.
Last year in Pennsylvania a judge ruled that Wal-Mart employees in that state who had previously won a $78.5 million class-action award will share an additional $62.3 million in damages.
The settlements have come only after a prolonged fight and after Obama was elected. Under the reign of Bush, Wal-Mart enjoyed substantial protection against employee lawsuits in exchange for massive ‘contributions’ and support of the Bush agenda.
“Wal-Mart typically fights lawsuits to the end more than any major corporation in America,” said Burt P. Flickinger III, managing director of Strategic Resource Group, a retail-consulting firm. “So for the company to settle them within 30 days of President-elect Obama’s inauguration indicates the company is trying to do what it can to present a newer face to the new administration and hope for the best given what the company did to try and keep the new administration being elected.”
The Walton family, which has controlling interest in Wal-Mart, is worth over $80 billion and has long been tied to right-wing politics and efforts to undermine the US Constitution.
Head-quartered in Bentonville in north west Arkansas, an area long-known for satanic activity, Wal-Mart has been instrumental in achieving the planned destruction of the United States to force the adoption of a fasicst corporate police-state.
Wal-Mart is deliberately destroying America by:
1. Transferring manufacturing capacity out of the US to slave-wage countries – By eleminating a domestic market for US manufacturers the capability of the US to manufacture much of anything has mostly disappeared. Without a manufacturing base the US cannot compete in the global market and has run up massive trade deficits and debt it can never pay.
2. Paying the lowest possible wage and oppressing employees – Wal-Mart has long screwed over its workers and paid the lowest possible wages, prevented workers from getting second jobs by continually changing their schedules and denying basic health care. Its policies have ensured that vast sectors of the US work-force have been forced into perpetual poverty.
3. Supporting fascism – By supporting the most vile and right-wing candidates and illegally encouraging its employees to vote for them, Wal-Mart changed the political landscape of America and help put mad-dog politicians in power where they have been able to wreck the country. Under Bush, the US became the most hated country on Earth, its federal debt went from $2 trillion to more than $10 trillion and unemployment has more than doubled. The US may never recover from the man Wal-Mart helped put in power.
If you care about your country, your family and your own future you may want to consider boycotting Wal-Mart and not support the Beast of Bentonville. We still have a choice and we can simply choose to not pay for our own destruction.
